Conditions We Treat (at a glance):

Condition we treat(definitions):
  1. Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
This occurs when the median nerve at the wrist is copmpressed by swelling or a tight ligament. We test for the disorder doing electrodiagnostic studies and diagnostic ultrasound and treat it with Generation IV laser or injection therapies. Severe cases require surgery.

  2. Cervical Neck Pain and Whiplash
Car accidents or chronic sprains to the neck can lead to prolonged muscle spasm and pain not relieved by medications, physical or chiropractic therapies. Often the cause is trigger points in the muscles or ligamentous damage to the joint stabilizing structures. We treat it with either laser therapy, trigger point injections and other myofascial techniques physical or chiropractic therapy. When that fails regeneration injection therapy to repair the ligaments usually solves the problem. In some cases we need to do radiofrequency neurolysis to cauterize the small nerve going to the joint and do cortisone injections.

  3. Chest wall Pain
Also known as costochondritis. It is usually caused by a rib sprain, subluxation or muscle spasm. Cardiac and pulmonary problems need to be ruled out. We treat it with laser therapy, trigger point or regeneration injections which solve the problem most of the time.

  4. Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and Fibromyalgia
This is a complex condition which can be due to a variety of problems. We need to look at possible food allergies, past or present infections, hormonal imbalances, metabolic syndrome, heavy metal toxicity, to name a few. We treat this with medications, and eliminating the causes of the condition.

  5. Disc Herniation and radiculopathy
The disc is a shock absorber between the spinal vertebras. Its construction is like a jelly donut. If the liquid center herniates out it can press on a nerve and cause inflammation which is termed radiculopathy. We treat this with epidural injections, laser therapy, physical therapy exercises, traction, and in resistant cases we offer a variety of minimally invasive surgical procedures. This would include percutaneous discectomy or laser assisted endoscopic discectomy.

  6. Headaches
Are caused by a variety of factors. Migraine, cluster and muscle tension or cervicogenic headaches are the most common. Frequently there are triggers that bring a headache on. Often a cervical sprain or myofascial pain problem is the cause. We often work with a Neurologist when the cause is from migraine. We treat this condition by finding and eliminating the triggers, and performing trigger point injections, occipital nerve blocks, facet blocks, radiofrequency procedures, and regeneration therapy to injured ligaments tendons and weakened joint structures. With a prolonged headache episode we have a procedure which aborts the headache 95% of the time.

  7. Hip Pain
Is usually caused by tendinitis, sprain or, arthritis. The diagnosis is made by examination and imaging studies. If therapy doses not work we can usually alleviate the problem with regeneration injection therapy or platelet rich plasma matrix grafting.

  8. Knee pain
Can be caused by patellar tendinitis, ligament sprains, meniscus tears, chondromalacia patella, or joint arthritis. After we diagnose the problem we might try physical therapy, acupuncture or laser therapy. If not successful we can usually correct the problem with regeneration injection therapy or platelet rich plasma tissue matrix grafting.

  9. Ankle and foot pain
Is usually caused by arthritis or a sprained ankle, tendinitis, plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendinitis or calcaneal bursitis. After we diagnose the problem we might try physical therapy, acupuncture or laser therapy. We also measure for orthotics when needed. If not successful we can usually correct the problem with regeneration injection therapy or platelet rich plasma tissue matrix grafting.

  10. Low Back Pain
Is usually caused by a bad disc, a facet sprain, injured muscle or sacral iliac joint problem. After we diagnose the problem we might try physical therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture or laser therapy. If not successful we can usually correct the problem with regeneration injection therapy under fluoroscopic guidance for safety. We also do facet injections with cortisone and radiofrequency neurolysis . Discogenic pain can be treated with intradiscal regeneration therapy or IDET

  11. Myofascial Pain and Repetitive strain injuries
These are injuries to either the muscle or its tendon near the insertion. These can usually be corrected with conservative physical therapies, massage, modalities, laser therapy, and exercises. If not improved acupuncture, trigger point injections, and myofascial release corrects the problem. If the tendon is involved we can do cortisone injections, regeneration injections or platelet rich plasma tissue matrix grafting using image guidance.

  12. Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy
This is a condition that can occur after a nerve or other minor injury. The body over reacts and amplifies the pain many times by growing and facilitating faulty nerve pathways in the central nervous system and generating abnormal chemical mediators. This is one of the most difficult conditions to treat. Physical therapy, nerve blocks, and sympathetic blocks, can all be helpful. Often we use an assortment of medication to dull the pain. In severe cases we offer spinal cord stimulator implants which block the pain in the central nervous system at the spinal cord level.

  13. Shoulder Pain
can be caused by rotator cuff injuries, biceps tendinitis, capsular tears, arthritis, acromioclavicular and glenohumeral joint sprain. We treat these problems with physical or laser therapy, acupuncture. When necessary we use regeneration injection therapy or platelet rich plasma matrix grafting using image guidance techniques.

  14. Elbow Pain
Is usually caused by medical or lateral Epicondylitis. Often the radioulnar joint is involved and the surrounding muscles. If therapy does not work we pin point the problem with ultrasound diagnosis or MRI and we focus our treatment to correct it. Regeneration injection therapy or platelet rich plasma tissue matrix grafting usually solves the problem.

  15. Wrist Pain
Is usually caused by tendinitis, sprain or, arthritis. The diagnosis is made by examination and imaging studies. If therapy doses not work we can usually alleviate the problem with regeneration injection therapy or platelet rich plasma matrix grafting

  16. Sports Injuries
Can affects any area of the body. Here at the Center for Spine Sports Pain Management and Regenerative Medicine we diagnose the problem and all its causes and focus the treatment to provide a quick resolution of the injury. We use the latest state of the art techniques, some of which we pioneered, under ultrasound or fluoroscopic guidance. We have treated players from the NBA, PGA, NHL, baseball AL, and minor league teams, weight lifters, professional dancers and musicians, runners, equestrians, and Olympic hopefuls.

  17. Temporomandibular joint pain
Is a condition where the jaw can be painful when chewing and it can lead to headaches and a whole syndrome of problems. We use a TMJ Dentist to evaluate the bite to correct it and provide an orthotic if needed. Therapy and trigger point injections can be valuable especially if the joint is hypomobile. If the joint is hypermobile or there is a disc injury we offer various injections using corticosteroid, viscosupplementation, regeneration injections or platelet rich plasma tissue matrix grafting using image guidance. Only occasionally is a surgical procedure required.
